03-27-1979 i Y>n r i 1 A regular meeting of the Hopkins Zoning and Planning Commission was held on I Tuesday, March 27, 1979, at 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chambers of the City - Hall. _ Present were members Bisbee, Eaves, Loberg, Reinehr and Slaton. Also present _ were City Manager Craig, City Engineer Strojan, Zoning Administrator Kohnen , I _ and City Planner Hawks. Ik In the absence of a chairman, Dr. Slaton chaired the meeting. New members ` I - Judy Reinehr and Bertin Bisbee were welcomed to the Commission. � 1 j Item: Mr. Miller moved and Mr. Loberg seconded a motion that the minutes . of February 27, 1979 meeting be approved and signed. Motion carried. Item: Discussion on proposed amendments to the Zoning Ordinance. I . Action: A transcript of the proposed amendments will be mailed to the Commission members prior to a special meeting scheduled for April 10, 1979, at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, at which time they will be acted j upon. Also on the agenda for that meeting will be the annual organi- i zational meeting, the Housing Report discussed and Mr. Weckmans plans for - a commercial building in the B-3 District. 1 Is 4 I Item: Review of Plat for Southwest Industrial area. The commission reviewed the proposed plat and the comments presented by `• ilkthe City Planner. The commission showed concern about the Outlets and Ifrontage on streets. 11 I Action: Mr. Miller moved and Mr. Bisbee seconded a motion that the commission , • I recommend to the City Council approval of the plat subject to an opinion Ifrom the City Attorney that the plat as proposed is in conformance with the Zoning Ordinance and that the Fire Marshall and Engineer approvals ! are obtained. Motion carried. Mr. Loberg and Mr. Eaves voting no. 0 ICase No: 1 79-06 Application by Steiner-Koppelman Inc. for a Conditional Use Permit to construct an office-warehouse building at 520 15th Avenue South, continued from the February 27, 1979 meeting. Mr. Kordonowy of Steiner-Koppelman reviewed the application with the •j commission and the three items of concern from the last meeting have been corrected. Action: Mr. Eaves moved and Mr. Loberg seconded a motion recommending to the Council approval of the Conditional Use Permit being that all items had been j corrected. Motion carried. I ! Case No: 79-07 Hearing on an application by Spantek for a Conditional Use Permit to I construct an assembly-warehouse building at 1520 South Fifth Street. i I I Mr. Bill Klines, builder, and Mr. Ken Hall, Vice President of Spantek, i presented the proposed plans for an addition to the present building. 1 Action: Mr. Eaves moved and Mr. Loberg seconded a motion recommending to the City Council that the Conditional Use Permit be approved subject to an agreement by Spantek that sufficient parking spaces be provided on Lots 1 and 2, I South Hopkins Industrial Park, to serve the present and future parking _ needs of any uses located on Lots 1 and 2. Motion carried. Case No: 79-08 Hearing on an application by Rutledge Construction Company for two ' variances (1) to reduce the rear yard setback requirement of 20 feet 1 t1 to 0 feet and (2) to reduce the east side yard requirement of 20 feet to 5 feet. I iMr. Tom Rutledge presented the plans for the proposed addition to the ? commission. Motion carried. ; -- Case No: 79-09 Hearing on an application by Rutledge Construction Company for a Conditional - Use Permit to construct a warehouse addition to their present building. - Action: Mr. Loberg moved and Mr. Bisbee seconded a motion recommending to the Council approval of the Conditional Use Permit. Motion carried. Case No: , 79-10 Hearing on an application by Gene Reilly for a Conditional Use Permit toconstruct a warehouse-office building at 715 Fifth Street South. Mr. Jack Burke of Midwest Brick and Mr. Gene Reilly presented the plans 1 to the commission. Action: Mr. Bisbee moved and Mrs. Reinehr seconded a motion that the commission ( ) recommend to the City Council that the Conditional Use Permit be approved, provided that the applicant furnish sufficient information to meet staff 4111 review and approval prior to Council review.
