Approve Agreement with Flagship Recreation for the purchase and installation of play equipment at Cottageville Park; Stadler (CR2015-050)April 2, 2015 HOPKlNs Council Report 2015-050 Approve Agreement with Flagship Recreation for the purchase and installation of play equipment at Cottageville Park Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move that Council approve an agreement with Flagship Recreation for the purchase and installation of play equipment at Cottageville Park and authorize the City Manager to execute the agreement in the amount of $312,710. Overview An important element of the Cottageville Park transformation will be the construction of a new park play area. Flagship Recreation was selected from four playground designer/suppliers that responded to our request for proposals. Their submittal showed that their project understanding and company capabilities best matched our desire for a diverse and unique play experience. Final play area product selections were made following the feedback we received from children and parents at a May 20 2014 open house. The City has had previous good experience working with Flagship Recreation, most recently on the Shady Oak Beach play area upgrade. The funding for the play area construction will come from the Park Dedication Fund ($133,000) and from Hennepin County via our CDBG fund balance ($180,000). The playground construction will occur concurrently with the general Cottageville Park improvement project as Flagship Recreation will be using Custom Builders, Inc., the park improvement general contractor, as their sub -contractor for the various construction elements of the play area. The work will conclude with Flagship Recreation installing -the play structures and the fall -protection surfacing materials. The play area should be completed by mid- September 2015.
