III.1. Proclamation: National Bike Month; Elverum City of Hopkins Proclamation Whereas, the bicycle is a viable and environmentally sound means of transportation and excellent form of recreation; and Whereas, millions of Americans will enjoy the joys of bicycling this May through bike rides, bike commuting, and educational programs; and Whereas, Hopkins, Minnesota has excellent biking facilities including five regional trails that make biking an easy and enjoyable activity; and Whereas, the national non-profit bicycling safety and education association, the League of American Bicyclists, has celebrated the month of May as national Bike Month for the past fifty-nine years and encourages cities across the nation to do the same; and Now, Therefore, Be it Resolved that I Eugene Maxwell, Mayor of the City of Hopkins, Minnesota, do hereby officially proclaim the month of May to be: NATIONAL BIKE MONTH In the City of Hopkins, and urge all to support bicycling and participate in the events planned including Hopkins’ Mayor and Council Bike Ride on May 13, 2015 In Witness Whereof, I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the City of Hopkins on this fifth day of May, 2015.
