RESOLUPION ADOPTING PROPOSID P.1�]DME�ITS 'IC)
Tf� OPEN MEETING LAW.
Wl�REA.S, the City of Hopkins, Minnesota, supports the intent of
the open meeting law which is to have the public business canducted openly
so that the public can be inforn�d of the decisions and actions being taken,
and
Wf�REA.S, nev�rtheless there are certain matters of a confidential
nature which may not be in the public interest at a particular tim� to dis-
close publicly, and
WI�REA.S, the Attorney Ger�eral has rendered an opinion which appears
to be more restrictive than the legislature intended.
NCJW, �REF�ORE, BE IT �OLVED BY Tf� CITY COLIlVCIL OF � CITY OF
HOPKINS, to respectively urc� the Mirmesota State Legislature to consider the
changes to the open meeting law which would provide far amench�nts to the law
as proposed in the draft legislation subanitted by the League of Minnesota
Municipalities, and
SE IT F'UR'I��R RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be transmitted
to the C,avernor of the State of Minnesota, Members of the Sta.te Legislature and
the League of Minnesota M�micipalities.
Passed and adopted by the Council of the City of Hopkins at a regular meeting
held the lst day of P,pril 1975.
