Overview
Three Rivers Park District has agreed to partner with the City to complete two regional
trail gaps in 2017. The first is the Lake Minnetonka Regional trail, which will connect to
the Cedar Lake Regional Trail with a two-way cycle track along 8th Avenue as part of
the City’s Artery reconstruction project. The second is the Nine Mile Creek Regional
Trail, which will connect with an off-street multi-use trail, as part of the City’s
reconstruction of 9th Avenue South and 7th Street South.
Three Rivers Park District is submitting two applications to the Hennepin County
Bikeway Grant Program to assist with the cost of constructing these two trail gaps. The

Analysis of the Issues
The Park District is requesting $100,000 dollars from the Hennepin County Bikeway
Program for each project. If one or both of the grant requests are successful, the City
would enter into a grant agreement directly with the County and would agree to use the
funds to complete the trail gaps as part of the city’s reconstruction projects.

Approve Resolutions 2016-022 and 2016-023 with changes
Deny one or both of Resolutions 2016-022 and 2016-023 and opt not to support
