VI.1. Award of Contract – Public Works Building Renovation; Stadler (CR2016-032)GTY pF , yOPKINs . March 9, 2016 - Council Report 2016-032 AWARD OF CONTRACT Public Works Building Renovation Proposed Action: Staff recommends adoption of the foliowing motion: Move that Council award a contract to Parkos Construction in the amount of $746,500.00 for renovation of the Public Works building_ Overview Bids were opened on February 24t" for the Public Works Building Renovation project. There was very good bidder interest and we received seven bids for the work. The low bidder was Parkos Construction with a base bid of $658,400. The next lowest bidder was Derau Construction at $676,500. The architects estimate was $610,000. The architect has experienced an uptick in bids since January and this is reflected in the bids received for our project. Many contractors have ample work for the upcoming seas-on, especially the mechanical/electrical contractors. See attached bid tabulation. The architect fully supports an award to Parkos Construction as he has had very good experience working ,with them on past projects. Staff would like to include 3 alternates in the contract award. The alternates are to convert the existing lighting to LED lighting and to upgrade the capacity of the new in-ground vehicle lift. With the three alternates the final contract amount is $746,500. Primary Issues to Consider • Description of bid alternates • Proposed project funding • Project Schedule Supportinq Information • Plan sheets • Contract form • Bid tabulation . Steve Stadler, Public Works Director Financial Impact: $746,500 Budgeted: Y/N Y Sources: Capital Improvement funds, Utility funds, General Fund reserves (not initially budgeted) Related Documents (CI P, ERP, etc.): CI P Notes: _ _ _ _ _ _ ._ _ __ _ . ..
