Award of Contract - 2016 Mill and Overlay Project, City Project 2016-08; Stanley (CR2016-035) April 5, 2016 Council Report 2016-035 AWARD OF CONTRACT 2016 MILL AND OVERLAY PROJECT CITY PROJECT 2016-08 Proposed Action Staff recommends the following motion: adopt Resolution 2016-031 Awarding the Contract, 2016 Mill and Overlay Project , City Project 2016-08. Overview The bid opening for the 2016 Mill and Overlay Project was held on March 29, 2016. This project involves rehabilitation of Sweet Briar Lane, Burnes Drive, Campbell Drive, Althea Lane, Herman Terrace and Herman Court between Farmdale Road and Minnetonka Mills Road, see the attached map. Proposed improvements include mill and overlay of the pavement, curb repair, and replacement of old sewer castings throughout the neighborhood. The low bid was $195,096.14, which is approximately 12% less than the final engineer’s estimat e. Seven (7) bids were opened; t he low bidder is Valley Paving, Inc. from Shakopee, MN. This contractor has a good reputation with previous similar projects in the metro area. Staff is recommending award of the pro ject contract to Valley Paving, Inc.
