JOINT MEETING WITH HOPKINS HISTORICAL SOCEITY
APRIL 26, 2016
CALL TO ORDER
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a Joint Meeting of the Hopkins City Council and Hopkins
Historical Society was held on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 at 5:00 p.m. at the Hopkins Activity
Center, 33 14th Avenue North, Hopkins.
INTRODUCTIONS
Hopkins Historical Society President Cooley and Mayor Molly Cummings welcomed all
attendees. Attendees present included City Council Members Campbell, Gadd, Halverson and
Kuznia; City Manager Mornson; Director of Planning and Economic Development Elverum;
Assistant City Manager Lenz; and Historical Society Members Jim Genellie, Shel Berg, Marlene
Dvorak, James Zdrazil, Kristin Kaspar, Jerre Miller, Mary Raabe and Nora Davis.
HOPKINS HISTORICAL SOCEITY STATUS REPORT TO CITY COUNCIL ON PLANS TO
MOVE TO MASONIC LODGE
Historical Society President Cooley provided a status report on the plans to move to the Masonic
Lodge.
UPDATE ON SWLRT AND CITY EFFORTS ON HISTORIC DESIGNATION FOR PORTIONS
OF HOPKINS MAINSTREET
Director of Planning and Development Elverum provided an update on the SWLRT. Ms.
Elverum also provided more information on the effort making historic designations for portions
of Mainstreet.
TOUR OF CURRENT MUSEUM/TOUR OF MASONIC LODGE
Historical Society President Cooley provided a tour of the current museum area at the Hopkins
Activity Center. Following the tour of the museum, discussion was held about the current
museum and the move to the Masonic Lodge. The group toured also toured the Masonic Lodge.
