AT CONCLUSION OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
Tuesday, September 20, 2016
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Cummings called the meeting to order at 8:32p.m. Council Members and staff present at
meeting included the following:

x Council Member Campbell
The following updates were provided at the meeting:
Public Works
Public Works Director Stadler provided an update on an amendment to the Gallery Flats parking
lot lease agreement. The extra Gallery Flats parking spaces will be moving to the parking ramp
freeing up permit parking in the downtown area. Assistant City Manager Lenz commented that
staff has discussed that the parking change begin on January 1 corresponding with the permit
renewal timeframe. Staff will inform the neighboring professional office building regarding the
parking change.
Mr. Stadler discussed the Cottageville ribbon cutting that is scheduled for 5 pm on October 4.
Mayor Cummings asked how reservations would be handled for the Cottageville Park Pavilion.
Mr. Stadler commented that the pavilion would be reserved like other Hopkins picnic shelters.
Staff will update the reservation website and signage will be posted at the park. Mr. Stadler
commented that there is limited parking at Cottageville Park for large gatherings.
Mayor Cummings discussed the coordination between Hopkins and Minnetonka and the park
reservation system for use of the parks. Staff will review the different components for the
reservation system and schedule a discussion at a future Work Session.
City Council:
Council Member Campbell attended the Park Board meeting that included a tour of the
Hopkins parks.
Council Member Gadd thanked Assistant City Manager Lenz for the Legionnaires’ Disease
talking points.
Council Member Gadd will not be at the City Council booth at the Farmers Market on
Saturday, September 24.
Council Member Halverson gave an update on the SWLRT Community Works meeting.
Council Member Kuznia commented that the next GEARS committee meeting is November
7.
Mayor Cummings toured Edco Products, Inc. and they had questions regarding the status of
Tyler Street. City Engineer Stanley will follow up.
Mayor Cummings and City Manager Mornson met with area cities regarding upcoming
Highway 169 closure and construction.
Mayor Cumming will be attending the Interlachen Jr. Ryder Cup opening ceremony on
Sunday, September 25.
Administration:
City Manager Mornson discussed the Highway 169 construction project. City Engineer
Stanley will be the staff liaison and the city website will include links for construction
updates.
There were no changes by Council regarding the 2017 City Council meeting schedule.
Assistant City Manager Lenz discussed the Rental License denial process and will keep the
Council updated.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the City Council and upon a motion by
Campbell, seconded by Kuznia, the meeting was unanimously adjourned at 8:54 p.m.
