MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION PROCEEDINGS
AT CONCLUSION OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
Tuesday, October 4, 2016
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Cummings called the meeting to order at 8:23 p.m. Council Members and staff present at
meeting included the following:

x Council Member Kuznia x Asst. City Manager Lenz

x Council Member Gadd
x Council Member Campbell
The following updates were provided at the meeting:
City Council:
Council Member Kuznia commented that the Interlachen Park Association would like a
presentation and updates about what is happening in the City and their neighborhood. City
Manager Mornson will schedule a staff person to attend the meeting when the date is
finalized.
Council Member Kuznia attended the Public Works bulk item drop off and commented that
the system seemed well organized.
Administration:
City Manager Mornson discussed Dr. Pete L’Allier’s idea to have a “worlds largest
raspberry” sculpture on his property. Dr. L’Allier is seeking funding for the sculpture. Mr.
Mornson commented that there is no public funding available.
Planning and Development Director Elverum has met with Marketplace and Main
condominium properties regarding their water issues. Estimated repairs are one million
dollars and the property is possibly looking at housing bonds to make the repairs.
City Manager Mornson gave an update on the new employees hired to fill the
Communications and Administrative Assistant positions.
Mr. Mornson discussed the October 11 Work Session agenda. ResourceWest will be
presenting an update and is seeking a Hopkins representative for their board.
Captain Johnson will be sworn in as Police Chief at the October 18 City Council meeting.
Mr. Mornson discussed the 2017 meeting schedule and the State of City program.
Cake and coffee reception for Chief Reynolds will be Friday, October 14, 3-4 pm at the
Hopkins Fire Station.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the City Council and upon a motion by
Campbell, seconded by Kuznia, the meeting was unanimously adjourned at 8:36 p.m.
