Subject: Proclamation Declaring January 4, 2017 Mary Raabe Day in the City of
Hopkins

The City of Hopkins would like to recognize Mary Raabe. Members of the Hopkins
Historical Society will be in attendance to present Mary Raabe with the following
Proclamation.
Staff recommends that the City Council approving the following motion: Move that City
Council approve the Proclamation Declaring January 4, 2017 as Mary Raabe Day in the
City of Hopkins.

Mary Raabe Day in the City of Hopkins
WHEREAS,
You have served for 20 years on the Hopkins Historical Society Board of
Directors, providing leadership, encouragement, support and friendship, and;
WHEREAS,
You have been the Heart and Soul of the Museum, with untiring devotion to
establishing it as a research friendly facility, with a warm and inviting presence, and;
WHEREAS
, You have shown creativity and leadership in arranging museum displays,
and in maintaining the Museum’s software and accessioning program, and;
WHEREAS
, You have most recently served as the Museum’s Interim Executive
Director, further refining the Museum’s operations, and;
WHEREAS
, You are the Founder and Editor of the Society’s informative and well
regarded Newsletter, and;
WHEREAS
, You have guided Volunteers to accomplish the Society’s mission to collect,
preserve and interpret the history of Hopkins, and;
WHEREAS
, Your wish to continue as a Volunteer at the Museum sets a high standard
for volunteers everywhere, and;
NOW THEREFORE
, I, Molly Cummings, Mayor of the City of Hopkins in the State of
Minnesota, along with my fellow Council Members, declare January 4, 2017 as Mary
Raabe Day in the City of Hopkins.
