Minutes of the January 17, 2017 City Council Work Session following Regular Meeting Proceedings MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION PROCEEDINGS AT CONCLUSION OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING Tuesday, January 17, 2017 CALL TO ORDER Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a work session of the Hopkins City Council was held on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at 8:27 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 1010 First Street South, Hopkins. Mayor Cummings called the meeting to order with Council Members Kuznia, Halverson, Gadd and Campbell attending. Staff present included City Manager Mornson and Assistant City Manager Lenz. The following updates were provided at the meeting: City Council:  Council Member Kuznia gave an overview of the Cub Scout fishing event and thanked the Hopkins Police Department for providing hot chocolate.  Discussion about a youth representative on the Park Board.  Mayor Cummings discussed the “Dentistry from the Heart” program on Wednesday, January 18.  Mayor Cummings will be attending the Dementia Friendly Community meeting on Thursday, January 19, 6 pm at the Hopkins Center for the Arts.  Mayor Cummings read a thank you note from Mary Raabe.  There was discussion about Cody’s Dash event. The planning committee is asking for Council input. There was discussion about options to inform residents on the race route and communications about the event to encourage community involvement. Council can direct comments to Mayor Cummings. Administration: City Manager Mornson provided the following updates:  Met Council lift station improvements  Council Members were asked to review committee involvement and update Mr. Mornson  Update on the Hopkins Youth Hockey Association and Pavilion project  Restructuring of the Engineer Technician position to Assistant City Engineer  Discussion that per city policy businesses that have a permanent patio cannot have street café. LTD would like the city to reconsider the policy. There was discussion about limiting the policy to Mainstreet.
