This will ratifiy a one year contract with Police Officers Association. Overview The contract calls for a 3.0% wage increase effective January 1, 2017. Insurance premiums will remain the same for 2017. Contract is within budget for 2017. Primary Issues to Consider  What other economic issues are included in the new contract?  How does this agreement fit with the 2017 Budget? The cost of the contract is within the 2017 budget. Analysis of Issues What other economic issues are included in the new contract? We adjusted seperated the Field Training Officer (FTO) and Officer in Charge (OIC) wage rates to better evaluate the market on the duties seperately. OIC wage rates will remain tied to the probationary sergeant wage. The FTO wage rate will be adjusted to $3.00 per hour above the officers regular base pay while actively training. How does this agreement fit with the 2017 Budget? The cost of the contract is within the 2017 budget, the FTO wage rate can be fit into the current budget. Alternatives 1. Approve the contract. 2. Do not approve the contract. Staff would have to renegotiate the contract. Staff recommends Alternative #1. _____________________ Ari Lenz, Assistant City Manager Financial Impact: $ 46,080.53 Budgeted Y/N: _Y___ Source: General Fund Notes: Full copy of contract available upon request.
