Appointment and Oath of Commissioner – Park Board Member Figgins
Proposed Action.
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Motion to appoint Emma Figgins to the
Park Board for a term ending June 30, 2018.
Overview:
Mayor Cummings has reviewed the applications and interviewed applicants interested in serving
on the commission. Based upon the recommendation of Mayor Cummings, staff is requesting
approval of the motion to fill the Park Board vacancy with Emma Figgins for a term expiring
June 30, 2018. After a motion has been made to appoint Ms. Figgins, the City Clerk will issue
the oath.
Primary Issues to Consider:
City Code establishes that the appointments shall be made by the Mayor with the approval
of the Council.

the State of Minnesota, and faithfully discharge the duties as a Park Board Commissioner of the
City of Hopkins in the County of Hennepin and the State of Minnesota, to the best of my
judgment and ability, so help me God.

Congratulations! At its regular meeting on February 21, 2017 the City Council
will formally appoint you to the Park Board to a fulfill a vacancy in a two-year term
ending June 30, 2018. Please plan to attend the meeting at 7 p.m. to receive
your official Oath of Commissioner. Feel free to invite your family to the meeting.
On behalf of the Hopkins City Council, I welcome you and thank you for your
service to the community.
The staff contact for the Commission is our Director of Public Works, Steve
Stadler. The Commission meets the fourth Monday of every month at 6:30 p.m.
and occasionally may schedule special meetings. Your first meeting will be
