The City of Hopkins would like to recognize Nelson W. Berg. Together with Nelson
Berg, his family and friends we will declare Friday, June 30, 2017 as Nelson W. Berg
Day in Hopkins.

A Proclamation Honoring
Nelson W. Berg
WHEREAS, a City is defined by its citizens, and its very best citizens are engaged,
dedicated, and involved, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Nelson W. Berg has embodied his adopted motto of “Service Above
Self” for over 40 years be serving as:
School District contributor: PTA and Legislative Action Committees
Member of Hopkins Park, Recreation and Zoning Commissions
Founding Member and Chairman of the Board of the Chamber of Commerce
(now Twin West)
Founder and Chairman of the Board of Resource West, a non -profit serving
individuals and families with broad services and basic survival gear such as
winter coats
Board of Directors and President of the Hopkins Center for the Arts
Mayor of the City of Hopkins from 1989-1993
Member of Hopkins Rotary since mid-1980’s, supporting local scholarships and
community programs
Volunteer Attorney at the Hopkins Activity Center for 27 years
A practicing Attorney serving area residents and business from 1976 until today
WHEREAS, Mr. Berg has been a strong voice for justice, the public good, and healthy
development in Hopkins, and a better citizens the City could not ask for, and
NOW THEREFORE, I, Molly Cummings, Mayor of the City of Hopkins in the State of
Minnesota, along with my fellow Council Members, do proclaim Friday, June 30, 2017
as Nelson W. Berg Day in Hopkins, and ask all residents to join me i n proudly honoring
and celebrating all of his service and accomplishments, and the many lives that he has
touched.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, I have hereunto set
my hand and caused the Seal of the City of
Hopkins, Minnesota to be affixed this 16th day
of May in the year 2017.
