For 52 years, we saw trees, bushes and tlowers when we sat on our patio or looked out our kitchen
window.
Now, just on the other side of our backyard fence, we see the new construction pictured above. It is a
garage being built by Charlie Browning at 117 Maple Hill Road.
This enormous garage adversely affects us at 118 Homedale Road in 3 ways: aesthetically,
environmentally and financially.
lestheticallv
• At 40' wide, it is'h the width of our 80' lot
• The 13'/z' elevation from Mr. Browning's driveway plus a 2'8" slope from the building foundation
creates a high wal! that cuts off any view beyond
Environmentallv
• Mr. Browning recendy brought in a►ot of dirt and re-graded his land to build his garage, resulting
in a serious potential for flooding in our yard from snow and rain run-ofE In addition to this
drainage concern, there is the potential for soil erosion.
inanciallv
• This garage wall will significantly lower our property's real estate value. Who will want to buy a
house that essentially is looking at a pole barn of a garage that is overwhelming our backyard?
We have been proud to own a home and live in Interlachen Park. We do not think that the size of Mr.
Browning's garage construcrion is at all compatible with the environment that our park-like
neighborhood has enjoyed and cultivated.
We want the Hopkins City Council to review the city building codes and our particular situation and
report back to us as soon as possible.
