RESOLUTION 2018-002
A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING CITY OF MINNETONKA
MAYOR TERRY SCHNEIDER FOR HIS YEARS OF SERVICE AS A CITY COUNCIL
MEMBER AND MAYOR
WHEREAS, Terry Schneider began serving the City of Minnetonka in 1977 on the city's park
board followed by the city's planning commission in 1981. He was elected to serve as City Council
Member in 1992 and served in that capacity until 2009; and
WHEREAS, Terry has served as mayor since 2009, and will have served 9 years in that capacity
when his term ends on January 7, 2018; and
WHEREAS, Terry was named the 2017 C.C. Ludwig Award winner for elected officials at the 2017
LMC Annual Conference in Rochester; and
WHEREAS, Terry has been active in the progression of the Southwest Light Rail line (SWLRT)
serving on the CMC; and
WHEREAS, Terry has been a true visionary while working with the City of Hopkins and the
Metropolitan Council in the planning of the proposed Shady Oak light rail transit station.
WHEREAS, Terry was a strong partner and excellent communicator during the design and approval
process for the Shady Oak reconstruction project planned jointly with the City of Hopkins and
Hennepin County.
WHEREAS, Terry has served as a member of the following organizations: Municipal Legislative
Commission, West Hennepin Area Mayors Group, League of Minnesota Cities Board of Directors,
Metro Cities, Metropolitan Council Transportation Advisory Board, West Hennepin Affordable
Housing Land Trust, National League of Cities Community, Economic Development Policy
Committee and others.
THEREFORE, NOW BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City Hopkins is most
appreciative for Mayor Terry Schneider's leadership and service to Minnetonka, Hopkins, and the
greater metropolitan area throughout his 40 years of community service.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the City Council of the City of Hopkins
hereby recognizes Mayor Schneider for his leadership in projects and many contributions to the
common good and wishes him many years of continued health and happiness.
