Approval of 2018-2020 Union Contract with Police Officers Association; Lenz February 5, 2018 City Council Report 2018-021 Approval of 2018-2020 Union Contract with Police Officers Association Proposed Action: Staff recommends the following motions: Move approval of the 2018-2020 Contract with Police Officers Association. This will ratify a three year contract with Police Officers Association. Overview The contract calls for a 2.5% wage increase effective January 1, 2018, a 3.0% increase for 2019 and 2020. The wages within the contract fit within the City’s new pay structure. We have restructured insurance to three levels of coverage (single, Single +Spouse/Children and Family) the City’s contribution was also increased for all three levels. There is an opener solely for insurance for 2019 and 2020. Contract is within budget for 2018. Contract will be effective January 1, 2018. Primary Issues to Consider  What other economic issues are included in the new contract?  How does this agreement fit with the 2018 Budget? The cost of the contract is within the 2018 budget. Analysis of Issues What other economic issues are included in the new contract? We implemented a monthly stipend for the school resource officer of $300.00 per month and added $25 per day of on-call pay for the positions that are on-call effective 7/1. How does this agreement fit with the 2018 Budget? The cost of the contract is within the 2018 budget, the stipend and on-call pay can be fit into the current budget. Alternatives 1. Approve the contract. 2. Do not approve the contract. Staff would have to renegotiate the contract.
