03-18-03 WSMarch 18, 2003 Page 1 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCTL WORK SESSION AT CONCLUSION OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING March 18, 2003 Mayor Maxwell called the meeting to order at 8:55 pm at the conclusion of the regular City Council meeting at City Hall. Council members present were Mayor Maxwell and Council members Brausen, Jensen, Johnson and Rowan. City persoiuzel present was City Manager Mielke. Caring Youth Award Coiuicil member Brausen stated that he was very impressed with the Caring Youth Awards and gave his compliments to both Bobbie Hartfiel and Diane Johnson for their efforts. The rest of the Council concurred. Depot Update Council member Brausen informed the Council that Herb and Frail Hesch have worked long and hard on the Depot, and indicated that he was aware of a power point presentation that Herb Hesch had prepared in an effort to help the Depot better track its revenues and expenses. Council member Brausen asked for a copy of the power point, and also indicated that the Council should receive more frequent updates on the Depot's financial situation. Bench Vandalized Council member Brausen indicated that he had spoken to Steve Stadler about a bench in Lot 600 that had been vandalized. CASH Meeting Mayor Maxwell asked if anyone was plaiuiing to attend the CASH meeting on Monday, March 24. Some members indicated that they would try to attend. Mayor Maxwell indicated that he felt the City should hold another Faitli Coimnunity meeting in the future. Pending War in Iraq Mayor Maxwell brought up the issue of the pending war in Iraq and the potential for teiYOrist actions in and around Hopkins. He stressed the need to be prepared and for staff members to be aware of their responsibilities. City Manager Miell~e indicated that several discussions had been held regarding these topics over the past several months and that discussions happen fiequently between the police, fire, and public works departments.
