A wozk session of the Hopkins City Council was held st 6:30 p.m. on November 23, 1999,
at the City Hall. Council Members present were Mayon Redepr~n~ and Council Members
Hesch, Jensen, Johnson and Maxwell. City personnel Present was City Manager Mtp~~; Ac*~ng
Police Chief Liddy; Finance Diar,.~,a Yager, Susan Newville, Dave Jobason, and Gordon

This was an ivfa'a~tian pzeser~nn. Swsan Nearville and Dave Johnson presented the
Rec~tion budget.
Ae»vi~y ~' Susan Newville said the oampater program bas bees very sucx;essfut;
teachers are donating their time so all fees will be funded into purchasing more equipment. The

General Co~eoeaa: Steve Miell~e should talk to police staff about the parking lot
problem and report back to Council. The maintenance contract needs to be looped at again and
discussed with Public wozks, Pblux and Activity ct-.~ ., wb~o all Share in the contract.

Police Department Reoor+de Keeping System
Software bas bees purchased from V Software. The hardware was never put o~nt on
a bid pzooess, but GE sent a bid on its own. However, they have a 6-8 week delivery period and
cost mote than Syntax, wb~o can deliver in 2 weeps. while the cost is more than the budgeted
amoua~t, there is money in the Bquipmenot Iteplt plan to cover the a~~t~cynal cost. Even
with the best scenario, the 90-120 days needed to get the program ~.....•i•~ mean it will not be in
place at the start of 2000. Mr. w~org noted ru.~~ds will need to be band ..~~t..l for a period,
then converted to the system. Resavea will be called in for some of this.
Karen Jensen sand she was concerned that reserves were available to do i~,.;6i~1 work but
net to help at the Teen t'~+rr parking lat. In reply to Gene Maxwell and Pam Hesch's questions
about other systems that could be used in the ;~;~, Mr. w~org said there were juriS~t~~ai
licenses to consider and that Vlsion is not 10096 uP auywbae is the state. Service would
not be feas~le as all wozk bas to be done on ~ac~.Wses.
