WORKSESSION MINUTES
July 18,1895
6:30 p.m.
A Council worksession was held on July 18,1995. The meeting was called to order by
Mayor Redepenning at 6:30 p.m. in the Raspberry Room. Present were Councilmem-
bers Chuck Kritzler, Bob Anderson and Fran Hesc~. Absent was Councilmember Max-
well; Counalmember Maxwell arrived at 7:10. Also present was City staff member
Steve Mielke, and members of the coffee house committee: Tim Ralston, David Red-
bum, Sharon MacDonald, and Matt Nelson.
Tim Ralston reviewed for the Council the progress the committee has made since their
last discussion with the City Council. Items discussed included an estimate of
$100,000 to $150,000 to remodel the structure, a plan for raising contributions for reno-
vations, and an outline of a job description for a coordinator. The committee requested
that the City Council authorize an e~enditure of $5,000 for the hiring of a consultant
and indicated that they would also ask the school district for a contribution of an equal
amount.
Mielke reviewed a site plan with the Council, indicating the exterior improvements that
would be needed. Council comments included issues about the visibility of the site and
the need to assure the image of the community is considered. Questions were also
raised about security at the site.
The Council discussed the $5,000 request and indicated a willingness to place it on the
Council meeting agenda and consider the request at that time.
There being no further business a motion was made by Bob Anderson, seconded by
Fran Hesch, to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting
was adjourned at 7:18 p.m.
