HOPKINS CITY COUNCIL WORKSESSION
J~WUARY 12,1993 7 P.M.
A woricsession was held by the Hopkins City Coundl on January 12,1993. Present
were Mayor Berg, Chuck Redepenning, Chuck KritTJer, Jim Shirley and Bob Anderson.
Also present were City stag Mielke, Kerrigan, Harmening, and Steirwnan.. Legal Coun-
sel, Dick Nowlin of Doherty, Rumble and Butler was also present.
Mayor Berg called the meeting fio order at 7:05 p.m.
The first item of discussion was a proposal by staff that the Council consider aPP~-
ing the State Legislature with a a request for special t~ increment finandng legislatiaon.
The legislation would allow the City to establish a t~ incr~errrerrt sub-district in the area
of County Road 3, west of Nine Mile Creek
The sub-district would be used to establish an indemnitt/ fund iordean-up aF former
landfill property if required in the property or to fadlitate rede~velopmerrt projects.
A discussion vas held on the merits of the proposed legislation . ABer discussion, the
staff indicated the legislation proposal would be on a future agenda.
The second item a-f discussion was a review aF the proposed Strategic Plan for Eco-
nomic Developmerrt.
The Coundl revieM~ed the various sections of the plan. Minor re~risions wane
discussed.
There being no otl7er items of discx~ssion, the meeting adjourned at 10:15 p.m.
