COUNCIL WORKSESSION
June 11, 1990
A Council Worksession was held on June 11, 1990 at 7:30 p. m. in the
Raspberry Room of City Hall. Present were Mayor Berg and
Councilmembers Kritzler, Redepenning, Anderson and Shirley. City
Manager Steve Mielke, Building Inspector Tom Anderson, and Public
Works Director Jon Thiel.
APPEARANCE - BABE RUTH LEAGUE
Dick Robinson of the Minnetonka/Hopkins Babe Ruth League appeared
before Council to request funds in the amount of $7,000 - 7,500.
The funds would be used for improvements to Roy Gilliam Field which is
located in Minnetonka. The Council requested staff to look into the
legality of the City of Hopkins donating funds to this non-profit
organization and suggested that the Babe Ruth League apply under the
normal budget schedule.
BUILDING INSPECTION DISCUSSION
The Council continued their discussion regarding building inspection
practices and program changes. The staff will meet to formulate plans
to carry out the suggestions made by Council.
REFUSE DISCUSSION
Jon Thiel discussed with the Council, the history of the collection of
refuse in Hopkins beginning in 1919 .
They discussed the six areas of services presently being offered to
the Hopkins residents and the costs of these services:
Automated refuse collection
Recycling collection
Extra bulk Item pick-up
Yard waste pick-up
Spring & Fall leaf pick-up
Brush pick-up
Discussion of these services will continue at a later date.
