08-15-06A regular meeting of the Hopkins City Council was held on August 15, 2006, in the
Council Chambers of the Hopkins City Hall.
Present were Mayor Maxwell and Council Members Youakim, Thompson, and Halverson.
Also, present were staff members Getschow, Strachota, Liddy, and City Attorney Jerry
Steiner.
I. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Maxwell called the meeting to order at 7:44 p.m.
II. OPEN AGENDA -PUBLIC COMMENTS AND CONCERNS
There were none.
III. OATH OF OFFICE
1 . Robert Hatlestad, Zoning and Planning Commission
The City Clerk administered the Oath of Office to Robert Hatlestad, newly appointed
member of the Zoning and Planning Commission.

Council members discussed the recent legislation on joint powers.
Council Member Thompson moved and Council Member Halverson seconded a motion to
approve the Consent Agenda. A poll of the vote was as follows: Council Member
Youakim, aye; Council Member Thompson, aye; Council Member Halverson, aye; Mayor
Maxwell, aye. The motion carried unanimously.
V. PRESENTATION
The City Clerk presented the AutoMark, an electronic ballot marking device. The
AutoMark will be used in the 2006 elections.

VI. NEW BUSINESS
1. Approve a temporary Liquor License for the Lundstrum Center for the
Performing Arts (CR2006-091)
The Lundstrum Center for the Performing Arts is holding a fundraiser at the Hopkins
Center for the Arts (HCA) on October 28, 2006. The fundraiser will consist of a stage
performance in the theater, sit down dinner, silent auction, live auction and appetizers.
The applicant is requesting a temporary liquor license for a cash bar in conjunction with
the above mentioned activities.
Paul Carter, a volunteer with the Lundstrum Center for the Performing Arts, came forward
and gave a history of the organization and explained the need for this fundraiser.
Council Member Thompson moved and Council Member Halverson seconded a motion to
approve a temporary liquor license for the Lundstrum Center for the Performing Arts for
October 28, 2006 from 6:00 p.m. to 1 1:30 p.m. for the fundraising event they will hold
at the Hopkins Center for the Arts. A poll of the vote was as follows: Council Member
Youakim, aye; Council Member Thompson, aye; Council Member Halverson, aye; Mayor
Maxwell, aye. The motion carried unanimously.
VII. ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business, Council Member Halverson moved and Council Member
Youakim seconded a motion to adjourn the meeting. The meeting was adjourned by
unanimous consent at 8:15 p.m.
