02-01-05 WSFebruary 1,2005 Page 1 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION AT CONCLUSION OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING February 1, 2005 Mayor Maxwell called the meeting to order at 8:40 pm at the conclusion of the regular City Council meeting at Ciry Hall. Council members present were Mayor Maxwell and Council members Johnson, Thompson, and Brausen. Absent was Council member Rowan. City personnel present were City Manager Rick Getschow. Block 64 Council member Johnson brought up the issue of past practices as it relates to relocation of tenants. State Smoking Ban Council member Johnson updated the Council on the recent legislation regarding the state smoking ban and its effect on the county ban. City staff will monitor the progress of the state smoking ban legislation. Empty Bowls Council discussed receiving invitations for making bowls for the Empty Bowls event February 22 Work Session Item Related to an Economic Development Plan Council member Brausen provided the City Manager with a list of items to assist Planning and Economic Development with providing a plan for the February 22 Work Session. Council/Staff Retreat Council discussed holding astaff/Council retreat in the month of March. The City Manager will discuss potential dates with staff and bring back a date for the Council to agree upon. Landfill/Bus Terminal Council requested an update on the potential bus terminal construction on the landfill site. Oakridge Development The Council discussed the recent sale of property by the church for development. If more property is sold in that area, such as by the school district, the City hopes that they will be contacted prior to the purchase. There are neighborhood and land use issues that could arise. There being no further items, a motion was made by Council member Brausen, seconded by Council member Johnson to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
