11-01-05 WSNovember 1, 2005 Page 1 MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION • AT CONCLUSION OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING November 1, 2005 Mayor Maxwell called the meeting to order at 9:30 pm at the conclusion of the regular City Council meeting at City Hall. Council members present were Mayor Maxwell and Council members Thompson, Brausen, Johnson, and Rowan. City personnel present were City Manager Rick Getschow. Flag Lighting City Manager Getschow presented a report from public works showing a plan to light all the flags in the city that are flown. Council consensus was that the plan is a good plan and also before the plan is fully implemented that staff find a way to raise and lower the flags as needed before the plan is in full effect. Rainbow Foods Development Council member Thompson requested that staff be sure to get a full plan of the redevelopment by the developer prior to any action needed by the Council so that the Council can get a full picture of the entire site prior to consideration of the project. Blake Road Council member Thompson stated that he had read in the Update that the police had been showing excellent response to some crimes that were occurring around Blake Road. He understands that we will be meeting in a work session in December to discuss those issues, but wanted to state that the police department has ~e a good job recently as it relates to response to issues in that area. Fixed Assets Council member Thompson asked that finance research some alternative measurements of depreciation as it relates to City fixed assets. City Manager Getschow stated that he will consult with the finance director and get back to the Council. Highway 73/Highway 5 Road Project Council member Johnson stated that heading westbound from Highway 169 and Minnetonka Boulevard that the Road Closed signs were down. She suggested that the City contact the county. That road is scheduled to open prior to Thanksgiving. Jake Brakes Mayor Maxwell discussed a letter that he had received from a resident as it related to the placement of a jake brake sign on or near Highway 169. The City Manager will follow up on that issue. Mainstreet Noise Meeting City Manager Getschow discussed with the City Council a neighborhood meeting with Marketplace Lofts residents, as it relates to the noise concerns on Mainstreet. A meeting will be set up in the near future with the neighborhood to discuss those concerns. There being no further business, a motion was made by Council member Johnson, seconded by Council ber Brausen to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
