MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION
AT CONCLUSION OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
October 18, 2005
Mayor Maxwell called the meeting to order at 8:40 pm at the conclusion of the regular City Council
meeting at City Hall. Council members present were Mayor Maxwell and Council members Thompson, Brausen,
Johnson, and Rowan. City personnel present were City Manager Rick Getschow.
Lighting of the Flags
Council member Rowan asked for an update on the flag lighting. City Manager Getschow provided an
update and stated that public works is still looking into additional areas for flag lighting in addition to the areas
that are already lit.
Arts Center Brochure
Council member Brausen thinks that we were provided an outstanding brochure of the current season put
together by HCA, Inc. He commended HCA on a job well done with a great brochure for the, coming season.
Citizens Academy
Council member Brausen discussed his attendance at the Planning and Economic Development Citizens
Academy session, which once again went very well.
Clock Tower
Council member Thompson asked about insurance coverage as it relates to the repair of the downtown clack
~/er.
National League of Cities
Council discussed planning and travel arrangements for the National League of Cities conference in
December.
Redevelopment Opportunities
City Manager Getschow discussed a potential redevelopment on the East end of the City and requested
Council input as to the type of uses and densities that would be appropriate for potential redevelopment
opportunities in East Hopkins.
There being no further business, a motion was made by Council member Brausen, seconded by Council
member Johnson to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 9:10
pm.
