ART FROM THE ATTIC
Art from The Attic is scheduled for Saturday, June 16 from 10am – 2pm.
Cargill has again generously donated 200+ pieces from their corporate collection to this year’s sale, and we
have received approximately 200 pieces from individual donors. We are hoping for nice weather so that we
can have the event on the sidewalk along Mainstreet.
CONCERTS
2017/2018 Concerts
The 2017/18 Concert season went very well, and we have seen major improvements in attendance and the
concert budget. Kelly has gained valuable knowledge over the past two years and he now has access to
information regarding performing artists and their ticket sales history that has helped him book talent that is a
good fit for HCA’s theater. We are also seeing results from our new marketing plan.

Kelly is busy working on the 2018/2019 concert line-up. He has three acts he is waiting on confirmations and
we will be set. Concert Season details will be provided at the June 12 th meeting.
MAY DAY ON MAIN
The second annual May Day on Main took place May 5, 2018. The event began at 3pm and included outdoor
music, games, food trucks, beer garden, silent auction and an evening performance by the Cactus Blossoms,
fund a need and live wine auction.

May 4, 2019 – May Day on Main
Main theater: Del McCoury Band, Grammy award-winning bluegrass group. In June 2010, Del McCoury received
a National Heritage Fellowship lifetime achievement award from the National Endowment for the Arts and in 2011 he
was elected into the International Bluegrass Music Hall of Fame.
VISUAL ARTS
Art Exhibitions
We continue to see an increase in Friends exhibition participation – the Juried exhibition saw a 10%
increase in submissions over last year.
Programming revenue including memberships, exhibition participation fees and art sales have again
increased over the prior year.

2018/19 Exhibitions have been selected. We received 59 proposals, up 10% from last year. 17 shows
were accepted, in addition to the return of Arts in Harmony (an international show,) and a ceramics
show with Claytopia, National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts’ (NCECA) 53rd annual
conference, which is being held in Minneapolis. Minnetonka Center for the Arts, Edina Arts Center and
Hopkins Center for the Arts were selected as participating locations. Conference participants will be
able to take shuttles to these exhibitions and other events. The exhibition will run from March 28 -May
12, 2019.
THE SUNSET SERIES
Hopkins Center for the Arts and Mill City Sound are co -sponsoring the summer music series, formerly
managed by Hopkins Business and Civic Association. Renamed, The Sunset Series, the concerts begin on
Thursday, June 21 and run through August 16. A full listing is attached.
