11-24-1964 The regular meeting of the Zoning and Planning Conunission of the City of Hopkins was held in the Council Chambers in the City Hall on Tuesday, November 24th, 1964, at 7: 30 p.m, o�clock. Present were Chairman Sundby, members, Mayor Milbert, Councilman Pokorny, Jr. , �. Stannard, Malecha, Larson and Blake. City Manager, Brubacher, City Engineer, Strojan, City Building Inspector, Blomquist and City Planner, Hawks. Case No. 1. 64-38-Zoning Applicant: G, F. Page -2- Action: Mr. Larson moved and Mr. Pokorny, Jr, seconded the motion that the 313 - 618 Zoning and Planning Commission recommend approval to the City Council —. of the request for a Special-Use-Permit to construct a gasoline service station in a Commercial-2 zoned district, on the above described property with the condition that the lighting be so installed that no direct source of light be visiable from adjacent land in residential areas, that six (6) foot fencing be constructed on the entire East side and on the South Commercial-2 zoned property lines; that the City of Hopkins is not liable for the cost of any construction or improvements installed which are within the area designated by the Hennepin County Highway Department on the plan submitted to the City for upgrading the intersection of County Roads No. 3 and No. 20, and are required to be removed for such upgrading. The motion carried. Case No. 3. 64-27-Variance Applicant: Alvin K. Kostecka Subject: A hearing published on August 13th, 1964, on a request for a side yard variance to construct a proposed dwelling on Lot 20 which will reduce the North side yard of existing dwelling on Lot 19, Block 49, West Minneapolis to one foot, which is less than the required side yard. Action: Mr. Malecha moved and Mr. Pokorny, Jr, seconded the motion that the ^ 627 - 704 Zoning and Planning Commission recommend to the City Council for approval the request for a side-yard variance on the above described property povided a copy of the ten (10) foot easement be place on file with the City Building Inspector. Case No. 4. 64-43-Special-Use-Permit, Applicant: Paul Kelley Subject: A hearing published November lOth, 1964, on a request for a Special- Use-Permit for a proposed construction of a miniature golf course in Commerical-2 and Industrial zoned Districts on the following described premises situated in Hopkins , Hennepin County, Minnesota, viz: Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 6 and 7, Block 17, including one-half of vacated alleys West Minneapolis Center or adjacent to and behind 619 Excelsior Avenue East. Action: Mayor Milbert moved and Mr. Stannard seconded the motion that the 704 - 876 request for a Special-Use-Permit for a proposed construction of a miniature golf course in Commercial-2 and Industrial zoned districts on the above described property be continued until the next regular Zoning and Planning Conunission meeting or December 29, 1964, with the provision that Mr. Kelley submit a more complete plan for parking; ^ for drainage and a possible additional soft ice cream store to the City Building Inspector. Erickson Subject: A hearing published November lOth, 1964, on a request for a Special- Use-Permit for proposed employee parking on Single-Residence zoned property or on the following described premises situated in Hopkins, Hennepin County, Minnesota, viz: Lots 31 and 32, Block 19, West Minneapolis Center, or 9 through 15 Harrison Avenue South. Action: Mr. Pokorny, Jr. moved and Mayor Milbert seconded the motion that a 876 - 1221 Special-Use-Permit for proposed employee parking on Single-Residence zoned property or on the above described premises be continued until the March 30, 1965 Zoning and Planning Commission meeting and with the petition for the vacation of part of the alley behind Machine Products Inc, be a part of the requests at the March hearing.
