11-12-1963 A special meeting of the Zoning and Planning Commission of the City of Hopkins was
held in the Council Chambers of the City Hall on Tuesday, November 12, 1963, at 7: 30
p.m. otclock.
Present were Chairma.n Sundby, and members Mayor Milbert, Councilman Pokorny, Jr. , Gustafson,
Malecha and Larson. The City Manager, Brubacher, the City Engineer Strojan, the City
—• Building Inspector, Blomquist and the City Planner, Hawks.
Case No. 63-
Applicant:Zoning and Planning Commission.
Subject: A study of the propsed new Post Office. Location and any other details that
Reel -3- can be taken up for discussion and reommended action.

Action: No formal action was taken. However, the City Manager, Mr. Brubacher, was
0 - 208 instructed to have letters prepared stating the many factors relative to the
"over-all" plan for the development of the desired areas, the "Down-town Plan"
etc, for each member of the Zoning and Planning Commission. These letters
will be mailed by the Commission members to their Senators and Representative
in Washington D. C. Also a copy of the letter to be signed by the Commission
as a body to be mailed to these same gentlemen, with the hope that the re-
ceiving of the above letters along with others will help to secure action
relative to the proposed new Post Office Building in Hopkins.
Case No. 63:

Subject: A study of the proposed new City Hall. An explanation of the December lOth
^ 208 - 453 election, and the method of financing of the proposed new City Hall.
Action: Mr. Gustafson moved and Mr. Pokorny, Jr. seconded the motion that the Zoning
' and Planning Commission go on record as being in favor of the method of fi-
ancing of the proposed City Hall and in the Commission�s working to "get out
the vote" for the December lOth election. The motion carried unanimously.
Case No. 63-50-Adjustments.
Applicant:Sheehan Company Inc.
Subject: A request by the Building Inspector, Mr. Blomquist, to call a hearing on the
453 - 464 required adjustments for the proposed construction of a buinding, to be used
as a roller rin.ka the location in the Commercial -2- District .
Action: Mr. Larson moved and Mayor Milbert seconaed the motion that the Building In-
spector, Mr. Blomquist, publish a Building Inspector Hearing No. 20, "A HEAR-
ING FOR ADJUSTMENTS REQUIRED UNDER ORDINANCE NO 131 FOR THE PROPOSED CONSTRUCTION
OF A BUILDING TO BE USED AS A ROLLER RINK AND LOCATED IN THE COMMERCIAL-2-
DISTRICT" on the follwoing described premises situated in Hopkins, Hennepin
County, Minnesota, viz:
"North 70 feet of that part of the Southeast 4 of South-
.� east 4 lying West of a line parallel with and distance
505.2 feet West from center line of 19th Avenue South
and South of a line running West at right angles from
said center line at a point distance 117.3 feet North
along same from North line of Chicago Milwaukee, St.
Paul Railroad Right-of-way West except road; and North

lying West of a line parallel with and distance 505.2

Subject: The election of a Chairman of the Zoning and Planning Commission for the
488 - 492 year 1964-1965.
~ Action: Mr. Larson moved and Mayor Milbert seconded the motion that Howard G. Sundby
be re-elected Chairman of the Zoning and Planning Commission for the year
1964-1965. The motion carried unanimously.
The meeting ajourned with the Commission taking a tour of the City Hall.
The November 12, 1963, Special Zoning and Planning Commission meeting continued.
