07-14-1964 A special meeting of the Zoning and Planning Commission of the City of Hopkins was
held in the Council Chambers of the City Hall on Tuesday, July 14, 1964, at 6: 00 P.M.
o'clock.
^ Present were Chairman Sundby, and members Mayor Milbert, Malecha, Larson and Blake.
City Manager, Brubacher, City Engineer, Strojan, City Building Inspector, Blomquist
and City Planner, Hawks.
Case No. 1. 64-24-S.U.P.
Applicant: Napco Industries.
Subject: A Special-Use-Permit for the proposed construction of a warehouse structure
l�cated in the Industrual Zone on the "Easterly 500 feet of the Westerly
836.7 feet of Section 25, Township 117 , Range 22, Hennepin County, Minnesota,
lying South of County Road ��3 and North of the Chicago and Northwestern
Railway rig�t-of-way.
Action: Mr. Blake moved and Mr. Malecha seconded the motion that subject to
Napco Industries submitting a site plan that will show what their
thinking is relative to their proposed parking for their employees,
a hearing be ordered for the next or July 28th, 1964, regular Zoning
and Planning Commission meeting. The motion carried.
Case No. 2. 64-11-MR-3 Zone, text and area.
Applicant: The Zoning and Planning Commission.
Subject: Establish the requirements for a MR-3 zone, the text and area.
Action: Mayor Milbert moved and Mr. Malecha seconded the motion, that subject
to changing the Single Family Lot Area to 6000 sq, feet from 7200 sq.
feet, the Zoning and Planning Commission recommend to the City Council
approval of the proposed text for a MR-3 Multiple Dwelling District
to the City of Hopkins. The motion carried.
Case No. 3. 64-26-Economic base; ,
Applicant: The Zoning and Planning Commission. ' ,
Subject: A part of the 701 program; detailed explanation will be presented af . -
the meeting. -
Action: The City Planner, Mr. Hawks, reviewed a portion of the economic base
report with the Zoning and Planning Commission. No formal action was
taken,
The Commission took a hour and half trip around the City of Hopkins
to visit the road sites, park sites, various zoning areas, proposed
construction areas; a rather complete trip which was explained by
Mr. Hawks in such a matter that all the various points of interest
in all of the catagories of the 701 Program and other questionable
"�' points of interests were covered. The Commission then returned to
the City Hall and resumed the formal meeting.
Mr. Hawks was given permission by the Zoning and Planning Commission
to present a prepared plan of major street and highways to the firm
of Edwards and Kelsey requesting a critique on the proposed plan to
be used in completing a portion of the 701 Progam for the City of
Hopkins.
