03-27-1962 A regular meeting of the Zoning and Planning Commission was held on Tuesday, March 27, 1962 at 7:30 p.m, in the City Aall. Present were Chairman Wegleitner, Mayor Milbert� Coucilma.n Else, members Gustafson, Sundby, Coolidge Jr. and Stannard, City Ma.nager, Brubacher, City Engineer, Strojan and our Resident Planner, Jim Hawks. �.. Mr. Gustafson moved and Mr. Sundby seconded his motion, that recommendation be made to the City Council that a building permit application be approved to construct a proposed addition to an existing building in an Industrial zone and for the issuance of a special use permit thereof; the proposed addition to be located at 140 Washington Avenue Suuth; the application made by Millwork, Inc. Mr. Coolidge Jr. moved and Mr. Sundby seconded the motion that Resolution No. 114 "A RESOLUTION ORDERING A HEA.RING TO CONSTRUCT PROPOSED BUILDING IN CERTAIN INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT AND FOR THE ISSUANCE OF SPECTAL USE PERMITS THEREFORE", the building to be located between 13th and 16th Street from County Road ��3 to the M. & St. L. Railroad tracks or 1300 County Road �k3; the application ma.de by Mr. Harold Grossman for the Metropolitan Automotive Company which is an auto rental and lease operation. The motion carried. Mr. Sundby moved and Mr, Coolidge, Jr. seconded the motion that the building permit application by Hopkins Contractors to construct a building at 616 - 12th Avenue South, located in the Industrial zone be continued until the April 24th Commission meeting. The motion carried. Mr. Sundby moved and Mr. Coolidge Jr. seconded the motion that Resolution No. 115, "A RESOLUTION ORDERING A HEARING TO CONSTRUCT A PROPOSED SINGLE FAMILY RESIDENCE IN A DOUBLE- � RESIDENCE ZONE� , on a forty foot (40�) lot, the residence to be located at 640 - 6th Avenue South; the building permit application ma.de by Mr. Gordon W. Keesling, The motion carried. Mr. Gustafson moved and Mr. Coolidge Jr. seconded the motion that the request by Mr. Erling Rice of 248 Meadowbrook Road for the proposed Plat of lots on the old Street Car right-of-way to the South en3 of Meadowbrook Road be denied, The motion carried. Mr. Sundby moved and Mr. Coolidge Jr, seconded the motion that recommendation of approval be made to the City Council to vacate part of Monroe Avenue North between First Street North and St. Louis Street and the alleys in Block 13, W�st Minneapolis Center, Hopkins Minnesota. The motion carried. Mr. Standard moved and Mr. Sundby seconded the motion that recommendation of approval be made to the City Council that a portion of the proposed alignment of a road along the boundary between Hopkins and Minnetonka Village be jointly designa.ted a Municipal State Aid Street from the Southwest corner of Section 25, Township 117, Range 21, to a point on the West line of said Section 25; 400 feet North of the R/W of the C. M. St. P. & P Railroad. The motion carried. Mr. Gustafson moved and Mr. Stannard seconded the motion, that recommendation be ma.de to ` the City Council to approve the buildin.g permit application of Mr. James Funke of 10 Hawthorne Road� to build a tandem garage with a variance of seven feet (7�� from the lot line instead of the ten feet (10�) as required by Ordina.nce. The motion carried. A discussion on the "Down-Town-Plan" followed with the request for maps of the plan and for the April 24th, 1962 Zoning and Planning Commission meeting to be called at 7:00 p.m. instead of 7:30 p.m, to give more time to go over the "Down•Town•Plan".
