04-24-1962 A regular meeting of the Zoning and Planning Commission of the City of Hopkins, Minnesota
was held on Tuesday, April 24, 1962, at 7;00 P.M. in the City Hall.
Present were - Mayor Milbert - members Sundby, Coolidge, Stannard, Councilman Else, City
Manager Brubacher, City Engineer Strojan and Resident Planner Hawks.

Coolidge moved, Stannard seconded, that Mayor Milbert be appointed Chairman Pro Tem.
Carried.
Coolidge moved, Stannard seconded, that recommendation be made to the City Council that
a building permit be granted to construct a proposed building located at 1300 County Road
�k3. Building permit application made by Metropolitan Automotive Company with the following
stipulations :-that a 33 ft. easement be obtained for road purposes on the East side of
the property to be used as the West 2 of 13th Avenue South. Carried.
Stannard moved, Sundby seconded, that recommendation be made to the City Council that a
building permit application be approved to erect a proposed building to be located at
636 - 6th Avenue South. Application made by G. Keesling. Carried.
Coolidge moved, Stannard seconded, that recommendation be made to the City Council that
a building permit be granted to erect a proposed building located at 601 - 12th Avenue
South with the following stipulations which are noted on the plot plan as follows :-
1. Raise door and windows and construct a step inside the door; 2. Run decorative black
line across building; 3. Extend windows on ends to block line; 4. Sandfloat front of the
building; 5. Building be painted a light gray with a white trim, also that the following
variances be granted - a variance to the front yard of 15 ft. , the rear yard of 5 ft. ,
and the South yard to zero. Application made by the Hopkins Construction Company. Carried.

Sundby moved, Coolidge seconded, that �esolution No.117 "A RESOLUTION ORDERING A HEARING
ON CERTAIN APPLICATION TO USE AN EXISTING BUILDING IN A SINGLE-RESIDENCE DISTRICT AS A
TWO FAMILY DWELLING AND FOR THE ISSUANCE OF A SPECIAL I�SE PERMIT THEREOF", on a home
located at 105 Minnetonka Mills Road for a special use permit to occupy the home as a
double-residence in a single-residence district. Carried.
Coolidge moved, Stannard seconded, the recommendation by the City Council that the Zoning
and Planning Commission make a study of the Stevens Oakwood Park area be referred to Jim
Hawks, Resident Planner, for study and report. Carried.
Sundby moved, Coolidge seconded, that Resolution No. 11o"A RESOLUTION ORDERING A �'ARING ON
A CERTAIN APPLICATION TO CONSTRUCT A PROPOSED BUILDING IN A CERTAIN C-1 COMNIERCIAL ZONE",
to construct an addition to existing garage building at 1106 Excelsior Avenue West,
applied for by Suburban Chevrolet. This hearing is to be set for May 15th at a special
meeting to be held at 7 :00 P.M. Carried.
Sundby moved, Stannard seconded, that recommendation be made to the City Council that a
building permit application by Mr. Guy Speaker to construct a 12 story office building in
front of existing home at 1521 Excelsior Avenue West which is located on the Northeast
corner of Excelsior Avenue and 16th Avenue be approved providing that the plans be changed
� to show a fire wall to be constructed at the back of the building and that a 3 year vacancy
clause be placed on the home which is at the back of the proposed building. Carried.
