members Halverson, Brausen and Rowan and Youakim. City personnel present were City Manager Rick
Getschow and Public Works Director Steve Stadler.

Public Works Director Stadler discussed with the council a letter from a business owner regarding his
concerns with illegal dumping. Consensus was to consider providing a letter to surrounding multi-family

Stadler discussed the city's response to recent articles in the Star and Tribune regarding water quality.
Even though Hopkins was listed on some of the maps, Hopkins is not directly affected by the
contamination concerns that were raised in the article.

Market Place and Main, Mayon Plastics and Hopkins Dodge-L.A. Fitness.
Getschow stated that the 73/5 bridge should be open in early October.
Council member Rowan asked about the improvement planned by Walser on the corner of Main Street
and St" Ave. Getschow stated the city planner is working on that and he will follow up with her on
Walser's plans for that area.
Mayor Maxwell discussed some recent newspaper articles that he had read about other suburban
downtowns and recent studies that had been done on the downtown economic climate. He stated that this
is something that Hopkins maybe should look at for 2008. City Manager Getschow will follow up on that
for council to discuss later this year or early next year.
No other business came forward. Motion to adjourn the meeting by council member Brausen and seconded by
council member Youakim. The motion passed unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 pm.
