CR 07-010 Resolution Approving the 2007-2008 Goals and Action Plani January 16, 2007 Council Report 2007-010 Resolution Approving the 2007-2008 Goals and Action Plan Proposed Action Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve Resolution 2007- 06 adopting the goals and action plan for the City of Hopkins for 2007-2008. Adoption of this motion will publicly state the goals and action plan for the years 2007 and 2008. Many of these goals and action steps will also be reviewed as part of the budget process. Overview On a regular basis, it is critical to create and assess the goals and the objectives of the community. The goals and the action plan contained herein, publicly state those items that the Council wishes to accomplish above and beyond the normal operations and everyday services that are provided by the City of Hopkins. The City Council has been meeting since this summer of this Year to revise the 2005- 2006 goals and create the 2007-2008 Goals and Action Plan. Staff recommends approval of Resolution 2007-06, which adopts the goal and action plan for 2007 and 2008. Primary Issues to Consider • How were the 2007-2008 Goals and Action Plan arrived at? The City Council, with the assistance of city staff, discussed various issues affecting the City of Hopkins. Draft goals and action steps were then developed from those discussions. These goals and action plan were then discussed with other groups and organizations such as the Citizen Academy alumni. WHEREAS, the Hopkins City Council has identified certain goals, objectives and action steps for the years 2007-2008. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Hopkins re-affirm the previously adopted mission statement and formally adopt the listed goals, and that the City Council, City Manager and staff are hereby committed to the accomplishment of these goals and its action plan: Goal I - To Improve Communications and Marketing Efforts to Residents, Developers and Businesses Action 1 Think Hopkins -Implement the City-wide Branding and Marketing Campaign as a partnership with the HBCA and Hopkins Marketing Committee Action 2 City Website: 2007 Redesign planned.
