Subject: Pubic Presentation of the GFOA Distinguished Budget Award
The City Manager will present the "Distinguished Budget Award" to the Mayor and City
Council. The award is made by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United
States and Canada (GFOA). The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award recognizes the
City's 2006 Budget Document for conformance with strict program criteria.
This award represents a significant achievement by the city. It reflects the commitment of the
governing body and staff to meeting the highest principals of governmental budgeting. In order
to receive the budget award, the city had to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective
budget presentation. These guidelines are designed to assess how well an entity's budget serves
as a policy documents, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.
This is the fifth consecutive year the city has received this award.
