Mayor Eugene Maxwell
City of Hopkins
10 10 1st St South
Hopkins, Minnesota 55343
Honorable Mr. Mayor
I had meant to make this presentation in person and at a council meeting, but
circumstances have prevented it thus far and it has already been far to long in coming.
This flag, which I present to you, the members of the City Council, and the Citizens of
Hopkins was given to me upon my return from Kosovo. It was meant to display the
Nations appreciation for my sacrifices. I wish to present it to you as recognition of the
sacrifices that the City, and Police Department have made during my absences. It cannot
be easy to have an employee deployed in a City our size.
Since 2000, I have been deployed to Saudi Arabia, the Minneapolis-St Paul International
Airport, and Kosovo, Serbia, and as we are a nation at war, there will inevitably be more.
During my deployments, the City has always supported me, both financially and
professionally. And you have welcomed me back with open arms. It is with heartfelt
thanks that I wish to present you with this American flag, in recognition of all sacrifices
that the City of Hopkins has made on behalf of my family, servicemen, our Country. I
trust that you can find an appropriate place for it.
Sincerely,
CL A.5~-
