Authorize Execution of Depot Juvenile Justice Grant Contract with Minnesota
Department of Economic Security
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to authorize Mayor and City
Manager to execute the Depot Juvenile Justice Grant Contract with the Minnesota
Department of Economic Security.
Overview
The Depot has been awarded a grant in the amount of $50,000 through the Juvenile Justice
Title V program. The effective term of the grant contract is January 1, 2003 to December 31,
2003. The grant will help to pay for payroll costs and general operating expenses related to The
Depot Coffee HouselTeen Center. The grant contract must be signed and returned to the
Department of Economic Security. The contract spells out provisions for issues such as
disbursement requests and quarterly reporting requirements. The grant was written by Lisa
Brodsky, The Depot's independent grant-writing and fundraising consultant. Under the terms of
the contract between Ms. Brodsky and The Depot, she will receive 10% of the grant amount
($5,000).
