APPOINTMENT OF MAYOR PRO TEMPORE
Staff recommends approval of the following motion: Move to appoint Karen Jensen
as Mayor Pro Tempore for the year 2002 and Diane Johnson as Mayor Pro
Tempore for the year 2003.
Overview
. The Hopkins City Charter requires that a Mayor Pro Tempore be chosen by the full
City Council at the first City Council Meeting in January after a municipal election.
The Mayor Pro Tempore acts as the presiding officer in the Mayor's absence, and
as Acting Mayor of the Council in case of the Mayor's disability or absence from
the City. In Cases where the Mayor and the Mayor Pro Tempore are both absent,
the Council Member, who has served the longest, shall perform as acting Mayor.
