A speci.al meet�ng of the Zoning and Planning Commission of the City
of Hopkins, Minnesota, �ras held at the City Hall at 7;30 P.M. on
Thursday May l� 1952. Present �rere Chairm,an Johnson, Members Parks,
Anderla and Pivec, Councilman Milbert� City Manager Taylor and �ity
F�gineer La.ska. Absent: Hagen and City �ttorney �IThitney.
Parks moved, Anderla seconded, that the following reasons for the
recommended six foot set backs on the east-west alleys on both sides
of the main street be submitted to the city council, in response to
their request for same:
"it is the belief of the Zoning Commission that the primaxy
reason is not necessarily to widen the alleys so that they
become 26� but to permit use of the alloys by vehicles pulling
off the alley to serve the business houses they desire. It
also Would serve the further purpose that�if at some future
date it was desired to so �ti.den them� the property would be
available for that particular purpose and also would be avail-
able if some day they would want to be used for street purposes
and would also make snow removal much easier than from the present
.-. narrow alleys•n
Carried.
Taylor moved� Parks seconded, that Resolution No.19, "A RESOLUTION

Parks moved, Anderla seconded, that City Manager Taylor�s recommend-
ation to have a qualified city planning engineer come to Hopkins be
referred to the city council. Carried.
Anderla moved, Pivec seconded, that the city council be asked to
consider other possible building sites for the proposed. new municipal
building. Carried.

Dear Mr. Johnson: �` �
According to the f irst revised zoning map of Hopkins, Minnesota,
which was adopted by the City Council on July 9, 1951, tha�
portion of Lot 77, Auditorts Subdivision No. 239 of Hennepin
County, Minnesota, which lies between Ashley Road and Blake Road
and about 2$0 feet south of the center line of Excelsior Boule-
vard is zoned as commercial. The undersigned, who are residents
and property owners in the City of Hopkins , respectfully request
the Zoning Commission to rezone �his area to a residential classi-
fication so that the block which is bounded by Ashlep Road on the
�„1 east Boyce Road on the south, Blake Road on the west, and
Exce�.sior Boulevard on the north will be classified as residential
except for that part which is west of a line parallel to and 130.01
feet west of the east line of Lot 77, Auditorts Subdivision No. 239,
Hennepin County, Minnesota, and north of a line parallel to and 133
feet south of the center line of Excelsior Boulevard.
