04-25-1972 A regular meeting of the Hopkins Zoning and Plann�ng Coznm�ss�on was held on Tuesday, April 25, 1972, at 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall. Present were Chairman Lohmann, members Knickerbocker, Lund, Sidla and Slaton. Also present were Building Inspector Kohnen, City Engineer Strojan and City Planner Hawks. Case No. 72-02 Hearing to consider granting a Conditional Use Permit to allow a Day Care Center in the R-4 (Multiple Residence District) on the following described property: That part of Lots 75 and 76, Auditor's Subdivision No. 239 lying West of the East 635 feet thereof and South of the Northeasterly 30 feet thereof and North of the South 300 feet. Action: Mr. Lund moved and Dr. Slaton seconded a motion to recommend approval to the Council of the Day Care Center. Motion carried. Mr. Lohmann took over the meeting from Dr. Slaton at this time. Case No. 72-03 Hearing to consider amending Ordinance No. 269 in regard to density of Nursing Homes. Action: Chairman Lohmann ordered case continued for two weeks to provide more time for study. Case No. 72-04 Hearing on an application by Mr. Rick Adams for a Conditional Use Permit to operate an open sales lot for the purpose of renting U-Haul .-. and Camping Trailers in conjunction with the car wash operation on Lot 12, Auditors Subdivison No. 242. Action: Mr. Lund moved and Mr. Sidla seconded a motion to continue the case for two weeks for applicant to show eight parking spaces on plot plan. Motion carried. Case No. 72-05 Hearing on an application by Edward Zaun Jr. , for a variance of the ordinance requirement of an open side yard to construct a 6 foot high and 8 foot long structure in the side yard parallel to his side lot line. Action: Mr. Knickerbocker moved and Dr. Slaton seconded a motion to recommend to the Council approval of the variance due to a hazardous condition created by use on adjacent property resulting in a hardship situation of occupants of his home. Motion carried. Item: Apartment security ordinance continued for two weeks to allow the City Attorney to study said ordinance. Item: Letter from St. Louis Park regarding possible uses for the property in and around the Cxeosote area placed on file. Item: Letter from Henry W. Haverstock, Jr. requesting the renaming of Monk Avenue to Blake Road. Action: Mr. Lund moved and Mr. Lohmann seconded a motion to hold a public hearing on the renaming of Monk Avenue at the meeting of May 30, 1972. Motion carried. Item: Mr. Hawks gave a report on CUE, Item: Report by Mr. Hawks regarding billboards. Action: Mr. Knickerbocker moved and Mr. Lund seconded a motion to hold a public hearing on May 30, 1972 to amend the sign section of the Zoning Ordinance. Motion carried. Item: Suggested amendment to the Zoning Ordinance regarding Residential Use in the "B-3" District. Action: Chairman Lohmann ordered a public hearing to be held May 30, 1972, — regarding said amendment. Item: Information regarding "The Annex". A copy of the Municipal Planning Act was sent to the School Board regarding disposal or improvement of property. Zoning and Planning minutes of April 25, 1972 continued. Item: Status report by Ken Lang on the official map. A ction: Mr. Lund moved and Mr. Knickerbocker seconded a motion to hold a public hearing for adoption of the official map. Motion carried. NOW, THEREFORE, it �s hereby ordered that the Zoning and Planning Commission of the City of Hopkins will hold a hearing on said amendment �n the Council Chambers in the City Hall of the City of Hopkins on April 25, 1972, at 7:30 o'clock P.M. and that the Zoning Administrator shall give ten (10) days notice of said hearing in the off�cial newspaper of the City of Hopkins by publishing a copy of this ,� hearing notice therein.
