07-25-1972 A regular meeting of the Hopkins Zoning and Planning Commission was held on Tuesday, July 25, 1972 at 7:30 P.M. , in the Council Chambers of the City Hall. Present were Chairman Lohmann, members Knickerbocker, Malerich, Miller, Shirley and Slaton. Also present were City Manager Novak, Zoning Administrator Kohnen, City Engineer Strojan and City Planner Hawks. Case No. 72-18 Hearing to consider granting a variance to Section 269.45, Subd. 4 (2) of the Zoning Ordinance, which states the side yard requirement in an I-1 District is 15 feet, for a sign on the Justus property at 330 llth Avenue South which was erected 13 feet from the side lot line due to an error in surveying and locating said sign. The sign is located on Tract E, Registered Land Survey No. 1316. Action: Dr. Malerich moved and Mr. Miller seconded a motion to recommend approval to the council of the variance to set back requirement ordinance 269.45, Subd. 4 (2) , for the following reasons : 1. possible acquisition of land by Hennepin County Highway Department, 2. sign was installed according to permit issued. Motion carried. Case No. 72-19 Hearing on an application by Mr. Andrew Justus for a Conditional Use Permit to operate an Open Sales lot to display wooden fences and open deck porches. Said operation would be conducted on Tract G of Registered Land Survey No. 1316. �` Action: Dr. Malerich moved and Dr. Slaton seconded a motion to recommend approval to the Council of the Conditional Use Permit to operate an open sales lot. Motion carried. Case No. 72-20 Request by Mr. Reilly to divide Lot 2, Block 7, Bellgrove into two parcels waiving the platting requirement. Action: Mr. Shirley moved and Dr. Malerich seconded a motion to recommend that the council adopt a resolution waiving the platting requirement to divide Mr. G. Reillys property into Parcel "A" and Parcel "B". Motion carried. Item: Renewal of mobile trailer permit on Mr. J. Walser truck sales lot. Action: Dr. Slaton moved and Dr. Malerich seconded a motion to recommend approval to the council to use mobile trailer for office on truck sales lot for one year under the same conditions as the original permit. Motion carried. Item: Commission member to be assigned to a committee for choosing a new .-. City Planner. Action: Selection of inember tabled until new commission members are appointed. Item: The following resolution was moved by Miller, seconded by Shirley and unanimously adopted as follows: WHEREAS, the Hopkins City Planner has advised that the Hopkins Comprehensive Plan be studied at least every five (5) years. NOW, THEREFORE be it resolved that it be recommended to the Hopkins Council that a committee be appQinted by the Mayor of Association Presidents or their representatives for the purpose of studying, revising, and changing if necessary the direction, intent and philosophy of the Hopkins Comprehensive Plan, with emphasis upon the need for continued multiple development.
