08-08-1972 A special meeting of the Hopkins Zoning and Planning Commission was held on Tuesday, August 8, 1972, at 7:30 P.M. , in the Council Chambers of the City Hall. � Present were Chairman Lohmann, members Gaskell, Miller, Shirley, Sidla and Slaton. Also present were City Manager Novak, Zoning Administrator Kohnen, City Engineer Strojan and City Planner Hawks. Mr. Alfred Gaskell was introduced as a new member on the Commission. Item: Mr. Terry Novak brought up Ordinance No. 362 to have a legal description error corrected. Ordinance No. 362 is a rezoning ordinance for South Hopkins, which was passed in March of 1972. Action: Mr. Sidla moved and Mr. Shirley seconded a motion to recommend the amendment to the Council to correct the legal description error. Motion carried. Item: Mr. Shirley was elected Chairman for the Zoning and Planning Commission for the coming year. Item: Appoint two members from the Zoning and Planning Commission to be on the Development Steering Committee which meets the last Wednesday of every month. ,-. Action: Mr. Lohmann and Mr. Gaskell were appoint by chairman to represent the Zoning and Planning Commission. Item: Review of Zapata Restaurant plans. Mr. Webber from the Zapata Restaurant presented blue prints and building design of the new Zapata restaurant to be located on Cambridge Street west of Uncle Johns Pancake House. He also answered all questions pertaining to the operation of the restaurant. Action: Mr. Slaton moved and Mr. Sidla seconded a motion to recommend approval of the building permit of the Zapata Restaurant. Motion carried. Item: Amendment to the sign section of the Zoning Ordinance. Action: Dr. Slaton moved and Mr. Gaskell seconded a motion to have a hearing on August 29, 1972 to repeal Section 269.50 Subdivision 1 (K) and adopt in lieu thereof the following: 269.50 Subd. 1 (K) (a) Sign of 250 square feet to be erected on the site of a residential project having 30 units or more until 75% of the project is leased or sold or one year after � sign erection, which ever occurs first and then such sign shall be removed. (b) off-site directional signs not in excess of 25 square feet conforming to name plate message maybe temporarily located on private property abutting arterial streets during the effective period of a residential project sign. Motion carried. Item: Hiring Planning Consultant. Mr. Novak has selected five applicants to be interviewed and asked the Commission to appoint a member to sit in on the interviewing. Dr. Slaton was appointed by the chairman to the interviewing board. Action: Dr. Slaton moved and Mr. Gaskell seconded a motion that the meeting be adjourned. Motion carried.
