07-08-1975 A special meeting of the Hopkins Zoning and Planning Commission was held on
Tuesday, July 8, 1975, at 7:30 P.M. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall.
` Present were Chairman pro-tem Milbert, members Gaskell, Hance and Moll. Also
present were City Manager Cotton, City Engineer Strojan, City Planner Hawks,
and Zoning Administrator Kohnen.
Item: Continued hearing on the revised Flood Plain Ordinance.
Action: Mr. Gaskell moved and Mr. Hance seconded a motion that Mr. Hawks prepare
the final draft of the Flood Plain Ordinance with the approved concepts
and have it ready for the July 29, 1975 meeting. Motion carried.
Case No: 75-06 Request by Mr. Paul Kraemer of 209 Farmdale Road to split Lot 6,
Block 8, Lohman Aarhus Hobby Acres. The small parcel is to be attached
to the south portion of Lot 2 for better frontage.
Action: Mrs. Moll moved and Mr. Hance seconded a motion to recommend to the
City Council approval of Mr. Y.raemers lot split and Waiver of the
Platting Requirements. Motion carried.
Item: Preliminary review of plans for a truck wash building and an addition to
the present garage warehouse building for Hennepin County.
� Action: Mrs. Moll moved and Mr. Gaskell seconded a motion to recommend to the
City Council approval of the building plans for the addition to the
garage warehouse and truck wash building. Motion carried.
Item: Preliminary review of plans for an addition to the existing Hammerlund
Manufacturing Company located at 607 Second Street South by Mr. Hammerlund.
Action: Mrs. Moll moved and Mr. Milbert seconded a motion to continue this matter
to July 29, 1975 meeting to give the commission time to inspect the
operation. Motion carried.
Case No: 75-07 Appli�ation by Mr. Thomas Carr of 200 Homedale Road for a variance
from the required side yard of 12 feet in the R-1 District to an actual
side yard of 3 feet to add a room over the existing garage.
Action: Mrs. Moll moved and Mr. Hance seconded a motion to recommend to the City
Council approval of the sideyard variance for Mr. Carr. Motion carried.
Case No: 75-08 Application by Oak Ridge for a Conditional Use Permit to construct
a maintenance warehouse by City Well No. 4.
�- Action: Mr. Hance moved and Mrs. Moll seconded a motion to recommend to the City
Council approval of the Oak Ridge Conditional Use Permit with the
recommendation that they use design exterior blocks and landscape per
submitted plan. Motion carried.
Case No: 75-09 Application by Mr. Gerald Wille of 300 21st Avenue North for a
variance from the required 100 foot lot width to divide a lot 163 x 168
into two lots of 80 feet and 83 feet.
Action: Mr. Hance moved and Mr. Milbert seconded a motion to recommend to the
City Council approval of the Variance for Mr. Wille. Motion carried.
Mr. Gaskell moved and Mr. Milbert seconded a motion to request that the
Council consider this area for R-1C zoning district in the proposed
ordinance. Motion carried,
Item: Request by Mr. Wille for Waiver of Platting Requirements.
Action: Mr. Gaskell moved and Mr. Milbert seconded a motion to continue this item
until a correct survey can be submitted on this property. Motion carried.
�- Item: Preliminary review of Napco warehouse plans.
Action: Mrs. Moll moved and Mr. Gaskell seconded a motion to recommend to the City
Council approval of the Napco warehouse plans. Motion carried.
Zoning and Planning minutes of July 8, 1975, continued.

Item: Downtown Park presented by Mrs. Kitty Alcott and Jim Kerrigan.
Action: Mr. Gaskell moved and Mrs. Moll seconded a motion to recommend to the
City Council approval of the concept of the Downtown Park in Minn R-46
Urban Renewal Project area. Motion carried.
Action: Mr. Gaskell moved and Mrs. Moll secanded a motion that the meeting be
adjourned. Motion carried.
