08-26-1975 A regular meeting of the Hopkins Zoning and Planning Commission was held on Tuesday, August 26, 1975, at 7:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of the City Hall. ._ Present were Chairman Shirley, members Arnold, Milbert and Moll. Also present were City Manager Cotton, City Engineer Strojan, Zoning Administrator Kohnen and City Planner Hawks. Case No: 75-09 Request by Mr. Gerald Wille of 300 21st Avenue North for Waiver of Platting Requirements to divide his lot continued from July 29, 1975 meetinq. Action: Mr. Milbert moved and Mrs. Moll seconded a motion to continue this item to the September 30, 1975 meeting. Mr. Milbert requested that Mr. Wille be contacted and find out what action he has taken on this item. Motion carried. Voting: 3 yea, 1 nay Case No: 75-11 Hearing on an application by MANPOWER for a variance from that portion of the sign ordinance regulating heights of structures above buildings of six feet from the existing six foot height allowed. Said property is located at 135 Shady Oak Road. Action: Mr. Arnold moved and Mrs. Moll seconded a motion to recommend to the City Council denial of the sign variance requested by MANPOWER. Mr. Milbert requested that a check be made to see if the owner of the building at 135 Shady Oak Road was notified in 1969 that their sign was a non-con- � forming sign, when all property owners in Hopkins were notified that they had a non-conforming sign. Motion carried. Case No: 75-12 Hearing on an application by Mr. Hammerlund to re-zone from B-3b (General Business District) to I-1 (Industrial District) Lots 19 thru 29, inclusive, Block 2, West Minneapolis for the purpose of enlarging the Hammerlund Manufacturing building. Action: Mr. Arnold moved and Mrs. Moll seconded a motion to recommend to the City Council approval of the zoning change. Motion carried. Case No: 75-13 Hearing on an application by Mr. Willard Zipoy for a variance to the side yard requirement of 10 feet in the R-2 District to 1 foot 8 inches at the side of a garage addition. Said project located at 637 5th Avenue South. Action: Mrs. Moll moved and Mr. Milbert seconded a motion to recommend tc the City Council approval of the side yard variance. Motion tied. 2 yea, 2 nay Item: Preliminary review of plans by Mr. Jordano for a building to be constructed at the corner of 17th Avenue and Excelsior Avenue. ` Action: Mr. Arnold moved and Mr. Milbert seconded a motion that Mr. Jordano come back with a more detailed building plan and plot plan showing required parking spaces and what type of business will be in the two rental unit of the building if possible. Motion carried 3 yea, 1 nay Item: Flood Plain Ordinance Action: Mr. Arnold moved and Mr. Milbert seconded a motion to continue this item to the September 30, 1975 meeting to give the Zoning and Planning members time to study the ordinance and submit their corrections to Mr. Hawks. Motion carried. Item: Revised Zoning Ordinance. Action: Mr. Milbert moved and Mr. Arnold seconded a motion to continue this item to the September 30, 1975 meeting to give the Zoning and Planning members time to study the new zoning ordinance and zoning map for final approval so it can be sent to the City Council. Motion carried. � Zoning and Planning Commission minutes of August 26, 1975 continued. .� Item: Loeffle-Engstrand office addition. Action: Mr. Milbert moved and Mr. Arnold seconded a motion to recommend approval of the office addition plans. Mr. Cotton suggested that they present their plans to the Nine Mile Creek Watershed District to get their approval to build in the Flood Plain and have it when they appear at the next Council meeting. Motion carried. Action: Mr. Milbert moved and Mrs. Moll seconded a motion that the meeting be adjourned. Motion carried.
