COMMISSION ACTION: / / / / � ITEM: REVIEW CHANGES FOR NINE MILE COVE ADJOURNMENT L ZONING AND PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES � October 28, 1997 A regular meeting of the Zoning and Planning Commission was held on Tuesday, October 28, 1997, at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Hopkins City Hall. Present were Commission members Sid Blair, Bill Schumacher, Dorothy Boen, Randy Engel, Roger Gross, Rick Brausen, Pat Gleeson, and Council Representative Fran Hesch. Also present was City Planner Nancy Anderson. CALL TO ORDER Mr. Brausen called the meeting to order. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mr. Blair moved and Mrs. Boen seconded a motion to approve the minutes of the September 30, 1997, meeting. The motion carried unanimously. ITEM: REVIEW CHANGES TO NINE MILE COVE � The developer of Nine Mile Cove has requested four changes to the townhome development. The following are the changes that are being requested: o Plantings and irrigation along Second Avenue o Additional grading on the west side of the site o Construction signage o Bridge work Ms. Anderson noted that the Park Board has reviewed the signage and agreed to the location of the sign in the park area and a 64 square-foot sign. The developer will construct only a 50 square foot sign to comply with the ordinance requirements. The Public Works Department has reviewed the other changes and found them acceptable. Ron Clark, the developer, appeared before the Commission. Mr. Clark told the Commission that he wants to install landscaping and irrigation along Second Street. The Homeowners Association will be responsible for the maintenance of the landscaping. Also, the Mr. Clark wants to install entrance monuments on Second Avenue. Mr. Clark stated that he thought Minneapolis Floral has dumped plant material on the west side of the site throughout the years and created a berm. He would like to remove this berm to enable the drainage to flow west. Mr. Clark has met with the Park Board regarding the additional grading on the west side of the site. � MINUTES OF THE ZONING AND PLANNING MEETING Page 2 The Commission questioned Mr. Clark regarding the status of the development. Mr. Clark stated that `— they are working on the streets on the west side of the site and have started the model home. The model home should be ready for the spring preview, which is the third week of February.
