Resolution Approving the 2005-2006 Goals and Objectives
Proposed Action
Staff recommends adoption of the following motion: Move to approve Resolution 2005-
062 adoptina the aoals and obiectives for the City of Hopkins for 2005-2006.
Adoption of this motion will publicly state the goals and objectives for the years 2005
and 2006. These goals and objectives will also be reviewed as part of the budget
process.
Overview
On a regular basis, it is critical to create and assess the goals and the objectives of the
community. The goals and objectives contained herein, publicly state those items that
the Council wishes to accomplish above and beyond the normal operations and
everyday services that are provided by the City of Hopkins.
The City Council has been meeting since March of this year to create the 2005-2006
Goals and Objectives.
Staff recommends approval of Resolution 2005-062, which adopts the goals,
objectives, and actions steps for 2005 and 2006.
Primary Issues to Consider
. How were the 2005-2006 Goals and Objectives arrived at?
The City Council, with the assistance of city staff, discussed various issues
affecting the City of Hopkins. Goals, objectives and action steps have been
developed to address several of the needs of the City as a result of these
discussions.

A RESOLUTION AFFIRMING THE CITY OF HOPKINS MISSION
STATEMENT AND ADOPTING THE
2005-2006 GOALS AND OBJECTIVES FOR THE CITY OF HOPKINS
WHEREAS, the Hopkins City Council believes it necessary for an effective local
government to clearly establish it overall mission and to prescribe the goals and
objectives necessary to accomplish that mission; and
WHEREAS, the Hopkins City Council has previously adopted the following Mission
Statement

WHEREAS, the Hopkins City Council has identified certain goals and objectives for
years 2005-2006.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Hopkins
re-affirm the previously adopted mission statement and formally adopt the listed goals,
and that the City Council, City Manager and staff are hereby committed to the
accomplishment of these goals:

Continue to incorporate pedestrian improvements in all street
improvement projects, especially along major roads to enhance access to
regional trails
