10-30-2001 � ZONING AND PLANNING COMMISSION MINUTES
October 30, 2001
A regular meeting of the Hopkins Zoning and Planning Commission was held on Tuesday,
October 30, 2001, at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Hopkins City Hall.
Present were Commission Members Bruce Rowan, Jay Thompson, John Szuba, Maureen Allen,
Eric Rudolf, Mary Hatcher, and Ross Bartz.
Also present were City Planner Nancy Anderson and City Attorney Jerre Miller.
CALL TO ORDER
Mr. Szuba called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Ms. Allen moved and Mr. Bartz seconded the motion to approve the minutes of the September
25, 2001, regular meeting. The motion was approved unanimously.
CASE NO. W VRO1-2 WAIVER OF PLAT—318 TYLER
Ms. Anderson reviewed the waiver of plat with the Commission. Garold Healy, the applicant,
appeared before the Commission. No one appeared before the Commission regarding this issue.
Mr. Rowan moved and Mr. Thompson seconded a motion to adopt Resolution RZO1-18,
recommending approval of a waiver of plat at 318 Tyler. The motion was approved
unanimously.
CASE NO. VNO1-4 VARIANCE— 101 INTERLACHEN
Ms. Anderson reviewed the variance with the Commission.
Jerome and Kim Fons, the applicants, appeared before the Commission. Mr. and Mrs. Fons
discussed their plans with the Commission.
The Commission discussed the difference between enclosed porches and unenclosed porches.
The Commission directed staff to look at defining the difference between enclosed and
unenclosed porches.
Mr. Thompson moved and Mr. Bartz seconded a motion to table the variance to March 1,
2002, or until the applicant requests to bring the variance forward. The motion was
approved unanimously.

ITEM: REVIEW ZONING AMENDMENTS
Ms. Anderson reviewed the zoning amendments with the Commission. The Commission
discussed various sections of the ordinance and some changes to be made before the November
meeting.
Ms. Anderson noted that there is a joint meeting on November 27 with the City Council at 6:30
p.m. to discuss the zoning amendments.
ITEM: DECEMBER MEETING
The Commission moved the December meetirig from Tuesday, December 25, to Thursday,
December 27, 2001.
ADJOURN
Ms. Allen moved and Ms. Hatcher seconded the motion to adjourn the meeting. The motion
was approved unanimously. The meeting was adjourned at 7:45 p.m.
