03-27-2001 ---� ZONING AND PLANNING COMMISSION NIINUTES March 27, 2001 A regular meeting of the Hopkins Zoning and Planning Commission was held on Tuesday, March 27, 2001, at 6:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers of Hopkins City Hall. Present were Commission Members Bruce Rowan, Maureen Allen, Jay Thompson, Eric Rudolf and John Szuba. Maura Swanson and Ross Bartz were absent. Also present were City Planner Nancy Anderson and City Attorney Jene Miller. CALL TO ORDER Mr. Szuba called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Mr. Rowan moved and Mr. Thompson seconded the motion to approve the minutes of the February 27, 2001, regular meeting. The motion was approved unanimously. CASE NO: SUBDOI-01 PRELIMINARY/FINAL PLAT NINE MILE COVE ^ Ms. Anderson reviewed the plat with the Commission. Ron Clark appeared before the Commission. Mr. Clark stated that they were nearing completion of Phase I and will be starting Phase II. The public hearing was opened at 6:35 p.m. No one appeared at the public hearing regarding this item. The public hearing was closed at 6:36 p.m. Mr. Thompson moved and Ms. Allen seconded a motion to close the public hearing. The motion was approved unanimously. Mr. Thompson moved and Mr. Szuba seconded a motion to approve Resolution RZO1-1, recommending approval of a preliminary/final plat for Nine Mile Cove Second Addition. The motion was approved unanimously. ITEM: ZONING AMENDMENTS —NUMBER OF CARS ON LOTS Ms. Anderson reviewed the proposed language on the number of cars per home with the Commission. Steve Shaw of 301 Monroe Avenue North appeared before the Commission. Mr. Shaw reviewed the parking conditions for several homes on Monroe. Daniel Egan of 137 Eighth Avenue North appeared before the Commission. Mr. Egan was concerned about the green space required. Ms. Anderson stated that the City does not have a green space requirement for single- family homes. The Commission discussed briefly where cars could be parked. Mr. Rowan stated that if we limit the number of cars per home, why would we need to restrict where the cars can be parked. � Next month the Commission will continue to discuss if there should be an ordinance that restricts where to park cars on a lot.
