MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION PROCEEDINGS
AT CONCLUSION OF THE REGULAR CITY COUNCIL MEETING
Tuesday, December 18, 2018
CALL TO ORDER
Pursuant to due call and notice thereof a work session of the Hopkins City Council was
held on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at 7:08 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall,
1010 First Street South, Hopkins.
Mayor Cummings called the meeting to order with Council Members Kuznia, Halverson,
Gadd and Hunke attending. Staff present included City Manager Mornson and Public
Works Director Stadler.
Administration
City Manager Mornson discussed a request from the League of Women Voters asking a
Hopkins City Council representative to attend an Environmental Policy meeting on
February 16, 9:30-11 a.m. at Minnetonka City Hall. Council Member Hunke would
represent Hopkins. Staff would provide Council Member Hunke with the necessary
information.
Public Works
Public Works Director Stadler gave an update on the ice rinks and organics recycling.
City Council
Council Member Gadd and Mayor Cummings attended the Local Government
Innovation Awards.
Council Member Gadd discussed attending an upcoming conference.
Council Member Kuznia and Council Member Halverson attended the Santa for
Seniors event.
Mayor Cummings commented that the Noontime Lions donated gift cards to a local
family.
Mayor Cummings discussed the mission of “Minnesota Mayors Together Again”
which brings Mayors together in conversation and promotes positive relationships.
Administration:
City Manager Mornson gave the following updates:
Discussion of the January 2 Council Meeting agenda.
Bid opening for the City Hall renovation is Thursday.
Update regarding the January 8 and January 15 Council meeting agendas.
Discussion of the Legislative Conference and Ehlers Seminar.
Discussion of the State of the City agenda.
Mayor Cummings asked that Senator Ron Latz and Representative Cheryl Youakim
give an update at an upcoming City Council meeting. City Manager Mornson will
contact them.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the City Council and upon a motion by
Hunke, seconded by Kuznia, the meeting was unanimously adjourned at 7:29 p.m.
